SCHAREINA STILL DOMINANT AMONG BIKES

The first stage of the Baja España Aragón in the motorbike category saw the clear dominance of Tosha Schareina (Honda). The Valencian rider won both special stages and finished the longest day of the rally with a lead of more than a minute over Edgar Canet (KTM), who was the only rider to come close to the pace of the leader.

The special stages of Torrijo del Campo-Gea de Albarracín (181.2km) and Argente-Concud (163km) have shown the great form of Schareina built up a gap of more than four minutes in the overall classification to  Lorenzo Santolino, who is now third overall among motorbikes.

Tosha Schareina: “The Baja España Aragón is tough with a rocky terrain and it is one of the editions with the toughest terrain. I struggled to get into the rhythm and found the tracks being very broken in the afternoon after the cars had passed. I will try to keep the distance but I will also try to win the special.”

Sara García leads in the FIM Women’s World Cup classification, while in the quad category, Jerome Connart finished the day as leader after the retirement of Dani Vilà, who had been the fastest in the morning special.

The competition will continue tomorrow with the third and last special stage between Torrijo del Campo and Cella (162km). The car category will start at 7.07am and the motorbikes at 11.07am. You can follow all the information at www.bajaaragon.com and www.atodomotor.com .
