36TH EDITION OF BAJA ESPANA ARAGON PRESENTED IN TERUEL

The 36th edition of Baja Espana Aragon has begun today with the administrative and technical checks for all the 222 teams who submitted their entries. The Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses of Teruel hosted the verifications carried out to obtain authorization to take the start in the race that is being held on Friday and Saturday.

On this first day of Baja Aragon 2019, the briefing for FIA crews was also held at the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses at 6 pm. At 8 pm, it was bike and quad riders’ turn to listen to the briefing, while at 11 pm that for the participants of the Spanish Cross-Country Rally Championship and Aragon Truck Trophy is taking place.

The official presentation of the event was also held today in presence of Octagon Esedos president Xavier Bartroli, President of the Spanish Automobile Federation Manuel Avino, general director of sports Javier de Diego, councilor for culture of the Municipality of Teruel Carlos Mendez and Deputy Government Delegate in Teruel Jose Ramon Morro.

Of course, the main favourites of the bike and car categories also took part in the presentation, including Mohammed Al Balooshi, Michael Metge, Joan Pedrero, Margot Llobera, Mario Gajón, Vladimir Vasilyev, Martin Prokop, Jakub Przygonski, Nani Roma, Jesus Calleja, Carlos Checa, Cristina Gutierrez and Martin Macik.

As for the Catalan Nani Roma, “it is a special race for me, since I have already taken part in 20 editions of the Baja, I have won many and it is a special race because it gave me the chance to start in my first Dakar,” he explained.

In bikes, one of the favorites will be Joan Pedrero, leader of the Spanish Cup. For the Catalan, “this is a very tough race, I always want to come here to compete,” he said.

The first stage to be held on Friday

The first stage will begin on Friday at 8.00 am for cars while the bikes will begin the first special at 10.30 am. On Saturday, another two special stages with a total distance of more than 500 kilometers will await the competitors, with the bikes starting at 6.30 am and the cars at 7 am.

The total distance of the timed stages will be just over 500 kilometers, deciding which drivers and riders in the different categories join the long list of winners in the golden book of Baja Espana Aragon.
