SCHAREINA SECURES ANOTHER VICTORY IN BIKE CATEGORY
In the 39th edition of the Baja España Aragón, Tosha Schareina has clinched the victory in the bike category, repeating his victory last year.
The Honda rider led the race from the beginning to the end, clocking the fastest times in all the special stages. The rider from Valencia finished 9’09” ahead of Lorenzo Santolino (Sherco), who struggled to match Schareina’s pace and had to settle for second place. Portuguese rider Rui Gonçalves rounded out the podium with a 15’21” gap.
Tosha Schareina: “I felt very comfortable during the whole day and I was able to grow the gap little by little. On SS2, we suffered a lot because the track was very broken after the cars and trucks but we are here, we won for the second time and I’m very happy.”
In the quad category, Juraj Varga secured his first victory in the Baja España Aragón after Kevin Giroud’s chances of winning evaporated in the final special stage. Giroud injured his right arm and experienced brake issues, costing him more than seven minutes. This resulted in him being relegated to the second position in the overall rankings. Toni Vingut completed the podium in the category.
As for the other classifications, Sara García won in the women’s category, Joan Pedrero triumphed in the Maxi Trail category, and Brian Gómez came out on top in the Trail category.
