SCHAREINA TRIUMPHS IN THE BIKE CATEGORY
Tosha Schareina (Honda) was the quickest covering the 179 kilometers of the special stage in the bike category. The rider from Valencia was 2’45” ahead of Lorenzo Santolino (Sherco).
Schareina: “I started off at a conservative pace, not pushing too hard in the initial part of the stage. However, upon reaching the refueling point, I learned that Santolino was leading. I then pushed as hard as I could for the final 90 kilometers, securing a solid lead of slightly over two minutes.”
Rui Gonçalves (Sherco) crossed the finish line in third place, losing 5 minutes to the winner in the opening special stage of the Baja España Aragón.
In the quad category, Kevin Giroud (Yamaha) claimed the first stage victory, completing the SS1 in 2h 39′ 03”. The Frenchman holds a 1’23” lead over Toni Vingut and a 2’12” lead over Juraj Varga, who slipped to third place after being penalized by a minute.
Dani Vilà, one of the favorites for victory, kicked off the Baja España Aragón on a sour note, encountering an issue in a muddy area at kilometer 160 of the stage, and ending up 9’08” behind Kevin Giroud.
