BAJA SPAIN ARAGON IS CANCELLED
The organization of the Baja España Aragón, a race that counts towards the FIA All-Terrain Bajas World Cup, the Spanish All-Terrain Championship and the FIM Bajas World Cup, wants to announce the cancellation of the 2020 edition.
This decision has been taken due to the health emergency generated by the Covid-19 and the current uncertainty regarding the organization of top-level sports events with a large influx of participants, organization and general public, and which involve a great mobility of people.
We have been evaluating until the last moment the different options to keep the event in the planned dates as it has been our intention from the first moment, but everybody’s security, mobility and health have prevailed over any other aspect.
Given that it is not possible to guarantee the development of a Baja España Aragón with full guarantees, the decision not to hold the 2020 edition has been agreed upon at all times with the Spanish Automobile Federation, the Spanish Motorcycling Federation, the international federations FIA and FIM and the respective competent bodies of the Government of Aragón, Teruel Provincial Council and Teruel City Council.
In spite of this difficult decision, the organization of the race wants to maintain the viability of Baja España Aragón and that is why it is working to reach an agreement with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Government of Aragón to guarantee its celebration in Teruel during the next three years (2021, 2022 and 2023).
The event was scheduled to take place from 23rd to 25th July 2020. The best off-road rally of the World Cup, designated by the FIA in 2019, will thus celebrate its 37th edition in 2021. For the eighth consecutive year, it will be held in Teruel and, since its creation, it has passed through numerous municipalities in the three Aragonese provinces that have been able to enjoy the caravan of participants that have taken part year after year.
The organization wants to thank the Aragonese Federation of Motorcycling, the Aragonese Federation of Motorcycling, the participants, organization, volunteers, public order and security forces, for their understanding and we urge everyone to meet again next year and enjoy the best Baja in the world.
