BAJA SPAIN ARAGÓN Trofeo AVATEL ON THE STARTING BLOCKS
The 38th Baja España Aragón Trofeo AVATEL is ready for the start. The action starts on
Friday with the prologue stage for motorbikes at half past five in the afternoon.
The entry list features 290 teams, an absolute record for the Teruel event, which has
returned to the full weekend format. The three days of competition in the regions of
Teruel, Jiloca and Albarracín will bring an important sporting and economic impact for
the three regions and their municipalities.
On Thursday the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Teruel hosted the first day of
technical and administrative checks. The final checks have been carried out there for
the crews to obtain authorisation to start in Baja España Aragón Trofeo AVATEL.
High-profile visitors in the Service Park
On Thursday, Alberto Izquierdo, Vice Pesident of the Provincial Council of Teruel, and
José Sancho, Mayor of Bañón, visited the Service Park, accompanied by race director,
Manuel Vidal, and the operations director of Octagon Esedos, Aitor Jiménez.
“The Baja is a very important event and we at the Provincial Council are not only
collaborate with economic means but also with logistical support. We don´t want to
leave anyone dissatisfied and we are going to leave the route in perfect condition to
avoid any inconvenience to the residents of the municipalities,” Vice President
Izquierdo said.
The Mayor of Bañón, José Sancho, also asked for the collaboration of the residents of
the different municipalities: “We ask for the collaboration of the farmers of the
municipalities to have water tanks ready to prevent any type of incident that could
affect the fields through which the event takes place”;
The Baja España Aragón Trofeo AVATEL, a rally that race director Manuel Vidal
described as “the best Baja in Europe and one of the best in the world" is celebrating
its ninth consecutive edition in Teruel this year”; We have found a place where all the
elements to make it happen come together,” Aitor Jiménez, events director of Octagon
Esedos said, adding that “Having everything centralised in the city itself makes it easy
for all the teams to set up here and that is one of the advantages of this race. In terms
of routes, almost no other Baja in the world has the capacity to cross so many
municipalities and cover so many kilometres.”
