NANI ROMA: “IT`S THE BEST BAJA SPAIN EVER”

The 39th edition of the Baja España Aragón kicks off this Friday with a 5-kilometre prologue, followed by a special stage of 179 kilometres against the clock.

This year’s event boasts a record-breaking level of participation, featuring the most formidable drivers expected to compete for the victory in the upcoming Dakar Rally.

Among the highly anticipated contestants is Nani Roma. The Catalan driver returns to the rally after a year’s absence due to illness, now representing a new team, M-Sport, and driving a Ford Ranger. “I am enthusiastic, looking forward to the rally and to leading this project into the future. This is the best Baja in history in terms of quantity and quality.”

Defending champion Nasser Al-Attiyah is predicted to be the one to beat in this year’s event. “It’s fantastic to have Carlos, Stephane, Nani… I’m going to try to beat him on his terrain, but the important thing is to do a good job during these days,” the Qatari said.

Audi is set to make its Baja España Aragón debut with a star-studded team featuring Carlos Sainz, Stephane Peterhansel, and Mattias Ekström. Madrid-based driver, Sainz, expresses, “I rarely have the opportunity to race in Spain and being here is very special. It’s a rally with a lot of history behind it and I want it to be a sporting success. Our aim is to come here to learn more about the car and to test it. We want to know how it behaves on a terrain like this.”

In the bike category, Tosha Schareina will be the favourite for the victory, with Lorenzo Santolino, Rui Gonçalves, and Mohammed Al-Balooshi also vying for the top spot. “This is a special race for me and I have to give my best to beat them,” said the 2022 bikes winner.
